Sculpting the Cathedral: Sound Engineering The Hunchback of Notre Dame π
Bringing the "wall of sound" of Hunchback at Beau SΓ©jour was a puzzle of physics and phrasing. Managing 56 inputs on an Avantis Solo, I balanced 25 cast mics against a 14-piece orchestra tucked in "The Catacombs." Using close mics and a IEM system for the band, I utilised TheatreMix for line-by-line precision. From a dead mic pack to the choral peaks of "Olim," the goal was clear: ensuring every sob and every bell felt as massive as Notre Dame itself.
